Directions

Adults 18 years, of age and over: Take 1 capsule daily for at least 7 days and up to 14 days.

Swallow the capsule whole with water, with or without food. Do not crush, chew or open the capsule. Not intended for immediate relief. It may take a few days to achieve maximum results.

Do not take for more than 14 days unless directed by a doctor.

USAGE ADVICE The bottle contains a sealed container with silica gel desiccant. Keep the bottle tightly closed to protect from moisture.

• Nexium 24HR Once Daily Dosing Tablets provide symptomatic relief from frequent heartburn and acid reflux.
• Do not use this medicine if you have a known allergy to esomeprazole, if you have severe heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux.
• Use with caution if you have severe gastric or esophageal ulcer disease, have chronic malabsorption syndrome, have a stomach ulcer or gastric or gastric tumor history.
• Do not use in patients with a known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or any other proton pump inhibitor (e.g. pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole, esomeprazole derivative).
• For the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, see ZOLLENES incidence in a prospective cohort study.

Side Effects

• The most common side effects are diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and pain in the lower back.
• The common side effects are headache, back pain, muscle aches, pain in the joints, rash, itching, and fever.

AstraZeneca has received approval from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to launch the highly selective and potent anti-ulcer proton pump inhibitor Nexium (esomeprazole). The company has launched the drug at a time when other PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) are in development.

The new drug is the first generic form of Prilosec, the most popular drug for chronic pain. FDA for the drug and is looking to launch it within a decade. About Nexium

Nexium, which is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcers, and dyspepsia in adults, is now considered the first-line treatment of choice in the treatment of reflux disease. It is one of a set of drugs that can help treat GERD, ulcers and the other gastrointestinal diseases caused by excessive acid secretion in the stomach. The drug works by stopping the production of acid from the stomach, thus relieving acid reflux and reducing reflux symptoms. It is not known whether Nexium is more effective than other available options, such as omeprazole and pantoprazole.
